What is a portfolio transfer?
+Portfolio transfers allow you to move your wine from one bonded warehouse facility to another without paying the VAT or duty on the wines.
How much does a portfolio transfer cost?
+If the wines being transferred are due to be listed for sale on BordeauXchange, portfolio transfers are completely free. You may need to pay a delivery fee to your current facility initially, but just send us the invoice and we will reimburse you upon your first successful sale on BordeauXchange.
For wines transferred with no intention to sell, standard delivery and logistics fees apply.
How can I transfer my portfolio?
+There are two ways to arrange the transfer.
1. Follow the step-by-step guide on the storage page. Once booked, we will handle the rest for you, and keep you updated via email. Your current merchant may contact you to authroise the transfer.
2. Email your current merchant requesting the transfer and copy info@bordeauxchange.com on the email, so we can ensure your wines are booked in for arrival. Please don't forget to include your account code in the delivery address. You can find our delivery addresses here.
How long does a transfer take?
+Transfer times depend on your current storage location. If your wines are stored at one of the LCB warehouses, transfers can be completed within as little as 48 hours. Transfers from other UK warehouses typically take 1-3 weeks depending on coordination requirements.
What about insurance during transfer?
+Since the delivery is booked through your current facility (we just arrange it), you may want to check and confirm the insurance and delivery terms directly with them. Most major UK bonded warehouse deliveries are fully insured.
Who owns the wine during transfer?
+The wine remains in your ownership throughout the entire process, including when it arrives at our warehouse. All wines are pre-booked for arrival with your account code logged, ensuring immediate assignment to your account upon delivery.
Can I transfer part of my portfolio?
+Yes, you can transfer specific cases or your entire portfolio. There's no minimum quantity requirement. Simply specify which wines you'd like to transfer when booking the service.
