What's the difference between the account types?

Trading Accounts are for those who prefer a hands-on approach—ideal if you want to research, build, and manage your wine portfolio independently.
Managed Accounts, on the other hand, are fully handled by our experts. Perfect for clients who want to benefit from BordeauXchange's expertise without having to invest their own time, resources, or market know-how.
Can I still trade or manage wines myself under a management account?
+Absolutely, you can place trades, review holdings, and make changes at any time. Your account manager handles everything by default, but you're free to take control whenever you like.
Is the wine still stored and owned by me under a managed account?
+Yes, all wines purchased under a managed account are fully owned by you and securely stored in your name. We simply manage the portfolio on your behalf—you retain full legal ownership at all times.
What is the market value discount?
+The Market Value Discount is an exclusive benefit for Management Account holders. It means every wine purchased on your behalf is sourced at a minimum of 5% below its current market value. This ensures you're already ahead from the moment of purchase—maximising value and return potential from day one.
Can I switch between account types?
+Yes, you can upgrade or change your account type at any time. Simply contact your account manager or our support team to discuss.
Are there any hidden fees?
+No hidden fees. Trading accounts are completely free with 3% commission on trades. Management accounts have transparent annual fees and 0% trading commissions. Storage costs are charged for trading accounts and are free for management accounts.
What's included in portfolio management?
+Our portfolio management includes bespoke wine selection, active buying and selling, market monitoring, portfolio rebalancing, and regular performance reports. You'll have a dedicated account manager for personalized service.
Management fees
Charged monthly based on the portfolio’s value using the last traded price for each wine, ensuring fair, real-market valuation and avoiding inflated prices or lump-sum charges.

Monthly fee @ 2.75% p.a: £45.83
Monthly fee @ 2.00% p.a: £33.33
Commission fees
